<p>This is going to be a short post.</p>
<p>I just read that D<strong>rew Carey lost 70 pounds</strong>!  That is amazing.</p>

<p>The article is a bit vague, all I got out of it was that he is eating better and follows a cardio program.</p>
<p>I wish the article gave a bit more detail about how he lost the way so that others may be able to learn something from him.</p>
<p>I have a feeling that he must be on a strict &#8220;good nutrition&#8221; program where he cut out sugars and simple carbohydrates, but he is the only one that could tell us what type of program he is really on.</p>
<p>He looks completely different, and pretty good. The article stated that Drew Carey is 52 years old. Not a bad job for a 52 year old guy!</p>

<p>OK, you wanna lose belly fat and you wanna do it right.</p>
<p>Here are the three things that I did to lose 28 pounds of belly fat.</p>
<p>One, I completely changed my nutrition program and ate a maximum of 15 g of sugar per day.  Every meal I ate consisted of a lean protein such as chicken breast, a fibrous carbohydrate, and a starchy carbohydrate.</p>
<p>Two, I used a full body weight training exercise regimen to build lean muscle which helped me to burn fat throughout the day.</p>
<p>Three, I used cardiovascular exercise to create a daily calorie deficit of about 20% of my total needed daily calories.</p>
<p>These three components are the core to every solid fat loss program.</p>
<p>Please do not listen to these commercials on television that tell you you&#8217;ll get six pack abs and lose a belly fat by doing some form of a crunch or sit-up.</p>
<p>The truth is that if you have fat sitting over your Abdominal muscles doing crunches and sit-ups will never give you the appearance of six pack ABS.</p>
<p>The best way to lose a belly fat is to follow the 3  fat loss principles that I listed above.</p>

<p>First, I would like to clear up a common misconception.</p>
<p>There is no such thing as a specific exercise for losing belly fat. Sit-ups, Crunches, etc are not the way to lose belly fat, they simply make your stomach muscles stronger.</p>
<p>Now that we cleared this up, here&#8217;s how you lose the fat over your stomach.</p>
<p>You need a system that will help you lower your &#8220;overall&#8221; body fat.  You see most guys see their ab muscles when their body fat percentage is in the 8-10% range and women will see their ab muscles when their body fat percentage is in the 16-18% range.</p>
<p><strong>You&#8217;ll lower your overall body fat and lose belly fat by following these 3 core elements.</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Good Nutrition</li>
<li>Weight Training</li>
<li>Cardiovascular Exercise</li>
</ol>
<p>The way to lose belly fat is to build lean muscle (helps burn fat) and use cardiovascular exercise such as running, cycling, total body workouts to burn more calories than you body needs on a daily basis.</p>

<p>Television commercials would like us to believe that doing abdominal specific exercises, using some ab device is the best way to lose belly fat and get six pack abs.</p>
<p>This is the furthest from the truth!</p>
<p>You don&#8217;t lose belly fat by doing crunches sit-ups.</p>
<p>Belly fat is lost when you lower your overall body fat percentage!</p>
<p>There is no such thing as spot fat reduction through exercise.</p>
<p>If you want to lose your belly fat you need a strategy and system for lowering your overall body fat percentage.</p>
<p>Most men will have a flat stomach and even see their abs when their body fat percentage is in the single digits (below 10%), women will have a flat stomach in the 16-22% range.</p>
<p><strong>You lower your overall body fat percentage by following these 3 pillars, </strong><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">exercises to lose belly fat</span>:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Proper Nutrition &#8211; Eat the good foods, cut out the fat creating foods, and eat the correct # of calories daily for your body type</li>
<li>Weight/Resistance training to build muscle which helps you burn fat</li>
<li>Cardiovascular exercise to burn fat</li>
</ol>

<p>Now, I will state that my goal was aggressive. I wanted to lose fat and get six pack abs.</p>
<p>The best exercise to lose belly fat is going to be a total body workout.</p>
<p>Pullups, push ups, bodyweight squats, and cardio such as running.  In order to burn the fat you have to get your body working hard enough, long enough, and frequently enough to create a calorie deficit so that your body uses your fat stores as energy, hence burning off the fat.</p>
<p>If all you want to do is lose a bit of your belly I would start with your nutrition. Nutrition is the most important. You want to feed your body well and cut out all the junk.</p>
<p>Sugar is probably your worst enemy when it comes to losing belly fat.</p>
<p>Jorge Cruise (weight loss expert) says to cut your sugar intake to a maximum of 15 grams per day if you want to lose your belly.</p>
<p>I agree with him completely. Read the labels on everything you eat. Sugar is in lunch meats, juices, bread, everything!</p>
<p>I go into the full nutrition plan that I used to get six pack abs in my book, &#8220;How I Got Abs&#8221;</p>
<p>Remember, there aren&#8217;t really any specific <em>exercises to lose belly fat</em> such a situps and crunches. The best exercises for losing belly fat are the ones that help you burn the most calories and build the most muscle. Squats, pull ups, pushups, etc.</p>

<p>I can tell you right now that using all the gadgets being promoted on Television are &#8220;NOT&#8221; the best for losing belly fat.</p>
<p>Nope, not diet pills either.</p>
<p>I hate to be the one to tell you this, but there is no magic machine, pill or gadget that is going to remove the fat on your belly.</p>
<p>I know, I know, the TV commercials make it seem so easy and heck they even have some fitness model on the commercial telling you that the gadget being promoted works.</p>
<p>The truth of it is these fitness models did not get their flat belly by using gadgets and diet pills.</p>
<p>The best way to lose belly fat is to lower your overall body fat percentage.</p>
<p>You lower your overall body fat percentage when you follow these 3 main principles:</p>
<ol>
<li>Proper Nutrition (notice I did not say diet)</li>
<li>Weight Training/Resistance Training</li>
<li>Cardiovascular exercise</li>
</ol>
<p>Consistency is key here. You have to eat right day in and day out, you have to exercise hard enough, long enough and frequently enough.</p>
<p>There are certain foods that are bad, like sugar, colas, white pastas, breads, etc. when it comes to losing belly fat.</p>
<p>Some of the good foods are, lean skinless chicken breast, tuna, salmon, bison, eggs, turkey breast(no sugar one).</p>
<p>If I were to pick one thing to tell you to do and you said, I&#8217;m not going to exercise I would say cut your sugar intake to 15 grams a day MAX. Use something like stevia as a natural sweetener to replace your sugars.</p>
<p>In my book &amp; course I go into great detail about how to lose belly fat and get six pack abs.</p>
<p>My advice comes directly from my experience of having a big flabby gut to being a guy with ripped six pack abs. I won&#8217;t push theory on you, I&#8217;ll simply show you the same step-by-stop system that I used go get six pack abs and continue to use.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ll start by saying that yes, you do have to do cardio vascular exercise if you want to turbo charge your fat loss and get ripped six pack abs.</p>
<p><strong>Why cardio?</strong></p>
<p>Cardio exercise at the right intensity and duration allows your body to use fat for fuel. When your body uses fat for fuel you lose fat.</p>
<p>I know a lot of experts are going around saying that you don&#8217;t need to do cardio to get ripped six pack abs, but from my experience you do need cardio.</p>
<p>I started out as an over weight 31 year old guy with a big gut and 20% plus body fat. (That&#8217;s me in the photo below).</p>

<p>With this being said, cardio alone is not going to give you ripped six pack abs. You need the system and the right system for your individual body type.</p>
