Well, in all honesty it comes down to your definition of fast…

No, you won’t lose your gut in a week if you have a big flabby gut. This is not realistic!

Each person has a different amount of fat on their stomach and it will take each person a different amount of time to lose their belly fat.

Please don’t fall victim to all of the TV commercials promoting diet pills or ab gadgets. From my experience these things don’t stand up to their claims.

Here’s How to lose belly fat fast: (Safely)

  1. Eat Right and cut out fat causing foods from your daily diet
  2. Perform weight training several time a week to build lean muscle, lean muscle helps you burn fat
  3. Perform cardiovascular exercise at least 4 times per week to burn calories and burn fat

Now there is a right way and wrong way to do these 3 things.

In my six pack abs getting system “How I Got Abs” I go into great detail on how to do these things the right way.  I won’t go into detail in this post due to time restrictions.

The on thing you must know is that the fitness models you see on the cover of the magazines with ripped six pack abs and flat bellies, they got this way from doing the 3 things I listed below.

Fat loss is a lifestyle that you follow one day at a time and you don’t cheat or skip days.

This is a very good question!

Television commercials would like us to believe that doing abdominal specific exercises, using some ab device is the best way to lose belly fat and get six pack abs.

This is the furthest from the truth!

You don’t lose belly fat by doing crunches sit-ups.

Belly fat is lost when you lower your overall body fat percentage!

There is no such thing as spot fat reduction through exercise.

If you want to lose your belly fat you need a strategy and system for lowering your overall body fat percentage.

Most men will have a flat stomach and even see their abs when their body fat percentage is in the single digits (below 10%), women will have a flat stomach in the 16-22% range.

You lower your overall body fat percentage by following these 3 pillars, exercises to lose belly fat:

  1. Proper Nutrition – Eat the good foods, cut out the fat creating foods, and eat the correct # of calories daily for your body type
  2. Weight/Resistance training to build muscle which helps you burn fat
  3. Cardiovascular exercise to burn fat

Now, I will state that my goal was aggressive. I wanted to lose fat and get six pack abs.

The best exercise to lose belly fat is going to be a total body workout.

Pullups, push ups, bodyweight squats, and cardio such as running.  In order to burn the fat you have to get your body working hard enough, long enough, and frequently enough to create a calorie deficit so that your body uses your fat stores as energy, hence burning off the fat.

If all you want to do is lose a bit of your belly I would start with your nutrition. Nutrition is the most important. You want to feed your body well and cut out all the junk.

Sugar is probably your worst enemy when it comes to losing belly fat.

Jorge Cruise (weight loss expert) says to cut your sugar intake to a maximum of 15 grams per day if you want to lose your belly.

I agree with him completely. Read the labels on everything you eat. Sugar is in lunch meats, juices, bread, everything!

Remember, there aren’t really any specific exercises to lose belly fat such a situps and crunches. The best exercises for losing belly fat are the ones that help you burn the most calories and build the most muscle. Squats, pull ups, pushups, etc.

I can tell you right now that using all the gadgets being promoted on Television are “NOT” the best for losing belly fat.

Nope, not diet pills either.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but there is no magic machine, pill or gadget that is going to remove the fat on your belly.

I know, I know, the TV commercials make it seem so easy and heck they even have some fitness model on the commercial telling you that the gadget being promoted works.

The truth of it is these fitness models did not get their flat belly by using gadgets and diet pills.

The best way to lose belly fat is to lower your overall body fat percentage.

You lower your overall body fat percentage when you follow these 3 main principles:

  1. Proper Nutrition (notice I did not say diet)
  2. Weight Training/Resistance Training
  3. Cardiovascular exercise

Consistency is key here. You have to eat right day in and day out, you have to exercise hard enough, long enough and frequently enough.

There are certain foods that are bad, like sugar, colas, white pastas, breads, etc. when it comes to losing belly fat.

Some of the good foods are, lean skinless chicken breast, tuna, salmon, bison, eggs, turkey breast(no sugar one).

If I were to pick one thing to tell you to do and you said, I’m not going to exercise I would say cut your sugar intake to 15 grams a day MAX. Use something like stevia as a natural sweetener to replace your sugars.

My advice comes directly from my experience of having a big flabby gut to being a guy with ripped six pack abs. I won’t push theory on you, I’ll simply show you the same step-by-stop system that I used go get six pack abs and continue to use.

How to lose belly fat, this seems to be one of the most commonly asked questions these days.

First, let me clear one thing up for you…

You won’t lose belly fat by doing sit-ups, crunches or by using some fancy ab machine.  This is a bunch of non-sense!!!

The people that sell ab machines would love for you to believe that losing belly fat only takes 10 minutes a day using their machine or gadget.

There is no such thing as a belly fat reducing specific exercise so please save your money and ignore all the gadgets on TV.

THE TRUTH - You lose belly fat by lowering your overall body fat percentage

Here’s how to lower your overall body fat percentage.

  1. Proper Nutrition (notice I did not say diet)
  2. Weight Training/Resistance Training
  3. Cardiovascular exercise

Doing these 3 things right every day will help you lower your overall body fat percentage while reducing your belly.

You’ll get success when you take things one day at a time.  Don’t miss any days and don’t cheat and you’ll get more success with your fat loss goal and losing your belly fat.

How To Lose Belly Fat by Doing Cardio Exercise

This article focuses on losing belly fat by using cardio exercise such as running, sprinting, biking, swimming or any other exercise that gets you breathing hard and huffing and puffing.

I’ll start by saying that yes, you do have to do cardio vascular exercise if you want to turbo charge your fat loss and get ripped six pack abs.

Why cardio?

Cardio exercise at the right intensity and duration allows your body to use fat for fuel. When your body uses fat for fuel you lose fat.

I know a lot of experts are going around saying that you don’t need to do cardio to get ripped six pack abs, but from my experience you do need cardio.

I started out as an over weight 31 year old guy with a big gut and 20% plus body fat. (That’s me in the photo below).

I used to pump iron and lift weights almost every day of the week, yet I was not able to lose my gut.

  1. Built a proper nutrition plan (notice I did not say diet)
  2. Used weight training as part of my exercise program

With this being said, cardio alone is not going to give you ripped six pack abs. You need the system and the right system for your individual body type.
